The Rotary Club of Cedar Hill was the result of a membership growth project initiated by the Rotary Club of Duncanville in the winter of 2002. A handful of interested Cedar Hill business people were recruited by Duncanville Rotarian and 1997-98 District Governor, Herb Kamm. With the aid of other seasoned Rotarians, Herb taught the group about Rotary and what it could offer them in the way of comradeship and to the community-at-large.

Interest grew as the word spread about this new (to Cedar Hill) service organization. In June of 2003 the group reached the required number of members to charter, and the work of organizing began.

The Cedar Hill Rotary is a diverse group of local business people who embody the essence of Rotary's motto:  Service Above Self. As the club developed and successfully completed fund raisers like their Head for the Hills bike rally, it became clear that the heart of their giving would be directed at the welfare of children. Tens of thousands of dollars have been raised to help support the Cedar Hill Food Pantry, Zula B. Wylie library, Education Foundation, Bridges SafeHouse, T.R.O.T., and other charitable endeavors, including aid to earthquake victims in Haiti, funding a water well in a remote area of Africa, and donating to the Rotary world-wide effort to eradicate polio in our lifetime.  In response to need in Cedar Hill, the club buys school supplies and winter coats for local grammar school children in-need.  Cedar Hill high school students have the opportunity to participate in Rotary through the two Interact clubs at the Ninth Grade Center and Cedar Hill High School.  Every year Cedar Hill Rotary sponsors up to 4 select students to attend RYLA, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards summer camp program.
